Gordmans Gotta-Haves:
The Fall Trends Our Stylist Scored

October 26, 2017

Hi! I’m Zoe, your Gordmans stylist. Every time I shop our stores for the latest styles, I feel like I’ve hit the fashion jackpot! I want all of our guests to feel like that, too.

So my goal when choosing my Gordmans Gotta-Haves is to show everyone how to get the latest craze for less cash and get big names without paying big bucks. Because great minds shop alike!

This season, you’ve gotta have some luxe looks in your closet. Here’s what’s filed in our style cabinet:

  • Velvet everything. It’s a smooth operator that makes everything better from bags to boots. And when it’s paired with the latest jewel tones — AH-mazing and just screams luxe.
  • Speaking of jewel tones, they’re pretty much replacing diamonds as a girl’s best friend this fall. What’s better on a dreary, drab day than wearing a fab sapphire A-line skirt or ruby red combat boots?
  • Everyone wants that one super comfy black sweater that you wish you could literally live in (but you can’t because…laundry day).
  • Leopard print. Can I just ask how such a bold print goes with almost everything?! Of course you don’t want to pair it with a huge floral print or anything like that, but this backpack can rock a jeans and t-shirt look during the day and an LBD at night.
  • You need a triangle scarf in your life! Trust me on this. It can be used in so many ways and has style for miles.

I scored all of these need-now luxe looks right in our stores. Imagine what unburied treasure you’ll find! What are your Gordmans gotta-haves?!

5 Fall Fashion Trends You’ll See Everywhere this Fall

September 5, 2017

Let’s hear it for fall, y’all! We love its crisp, semi-chilled air. The fiery beauty of the changing leaves. But, most of all, the arrival of new styles, colors and trends is what has us giddy with excitement. And do you blame us? These five fall fashion trends are fresh, feminine, fab and totally easy to mix into your weekend and weekday (aka office) style. We’ve also included a few styling tips on how to pull them off without a lot of fuss. Is it us – or are you sensing major 70s vibes? Time to swoon.

The Stitch Niche

Embroidery is back in a big way for fall fashion 2017 – and we’re loving every single stitch. Not only does it infuse color and a dash of elegance, it’s popping up in unexpected places on many of your favorite styles. On caps? We love. On the shoulder of a tee? Genius.

How To Style It:

Pair it with frayed-hem denim and simple slides for casual outings or dress it up with high-waisted skinny jeans and stacked heels. Just grab a clutch and you’re set for a day-to-night look.

A Mesh Sesh

Mesh is the peek-a-boo trend to love for fall. It allows you to show a little skin, yet still keep yourself covered. The key is layering. Layer mesh fabrics over other key pieces and you’re bound to turn heads.

How To Style It:

Pair it with acid wash denim and classic sneakers for a throwback look or wear it over a sports bra or bralette to go from gym to cocktails in no time.

Well, Red

Stand out in the brightest color trend of the season – red. One of the official colors for Fall 2017, we can’t get enough of its warm hues as we head into the winter months. Wear it head to toe for looks best described as ‘dynamic.’ (And a little on the ‘sexy’ side, too.)

How To Style It:

Pair it with anything black, go for pattern play or pop basic outfits with red accessories. Red makes a bold statement, anytime, anywhere.

The Plush Rush

This fall, there’s a major crush on all things plush. Hello, velvet and velour. Add texture to your fave outfits by mixing in velvet accessories that shimmer and shine. When a bit more stretch is called for, opt for comfy velour pieces. Both fabrics can luxe up any look with ease.

How To Style It:

Pair either fabric with lightwash denim and ankle boots for laidback lunches or with a choker and over-the-knee boots for Girls Night Out.

Dare To Flare

Flare isn’t just for bottoms anymore. Go dramatic with ultra-feminine tops featuring bell sleeves. In bold prints or solids, the look definitely screams 1970s. But, when the look is this fresh, we’re totally on board.

How To Style It:

Pair it dark-wash destructed denim and lace up booties or rock your look with rose gold sunnies and tassel earrings for a modern twist. You’ll be the star of the show at your next concert or festival.

3 Denim Trends To Love & How To Style Them

July 31, 2017
Denim

If we had our way, every day would be denim day. Jeans are the go-to option versatile enough to dress up for a night on the town – or down for a day at the farmer’s market. (Don’t even get us started about their comfort!) Below are a few denim styles we love, along with some stylish thoughts on how to rock them day in and day out.

Hi, Waist!

The nineties vibe with high-waisted jeans is off the charts – and so on-trend! In short, we LOVE it! Dark denim, sans destruction, exudes a more formal look and a smart choice for nearly any occasion. Added bonus: high-waisted denim highlights your curves and holds you in. For a contemporary look, slip on a pair of white sneaks, a neutral tote and a cute, cinched-waist jacket. You’ll be set for whatever the day brings. Ready to run errands? You are now.

Denim Jacket Outfit

In The Raw

Remember your cut-off shorts days? They’re back in a big way – only now with jeans. Raw-hem styles with just-right destructed details are on everyone’s want list. The look is new, casual and unique with an unfinished, yet cool factor. Offset their worn-out ease with a floral top and gladiator sandals and prepare for compliments. We love how the sweet floral print plays against the raw-hem denim. So cute and unexpected!

Denim Jeans Outfit

Rocker Chic

Concert on your summer fun list? Roll with studded denim to rock your look day or night. Go full-on rocker chic with lots of bold studs or keep your look rocker-light with fewer, smaller ones. We especially love the look when it’s paired with softer, more feminine tops and sandals. Sooo unexpected – and ready for swaying at summer’s best country and rock fests. Get your tickets ready!

Summer Dresses: 4 Styles To Rock Your Sunny Season

July 24, 2017
Pink Dress

Going somewhere? Summer dress season is in full swing – or should we say ‘full twirl.’ But, really, is it ever NOT dress season. With the plethora of new and unique styles available, we’re certain there’s one (or many) to pique your fashion sense no matter the season or occasion. Need a little inspo? Give these 4 styles a twirl for your next summer shindig. Lush floral prints and light, airy fabrics keep your look stylish, fresh and fun.

Gimme An ‘A’

Though temps may rise, you don’t’ have to forego style to keep your cool. Grab a floral A-line number to slip into for brunch, a trip to the museum or your BFF’s shower, to name just a few. For those destinations a little too cool for comfort, pair it with a vest, cardigan or light jacket to fend off the AC’s wintery blast.

Outfit Dress

Work It

Consider this shift dress a case study in comfort that works equally well at the office, fancy dinner or a wedding. A true 9-to-5-to-11 piece for the days when there’s little time to fuss with your look. Even its simple cross-bar embellishment makes getting ready easier – no necklace needed. Shift into easy? Please!

Yellow Dress

Max Out

Picture yourself in the tropics, or least in tropical flair, in a floral maxi. It’s the effortless throw-on-and-go style versatile enough to wear just about anywhere. We’re thinking date nights, showers, weddings, on the boardwalk and nights out with friends. But, go with the flow of whatever feels right to you. Dress it up with a pair of wedges or heels, or slip into some cute, flat sandals for your more low-key occasions.

Floral Dress

White On

White is so right (and so cool) on so many levels – especially in the heat of summer. We love that this style is short, sweet, shoulder-baring and so versatile. It totally fits for brunches, picnics and those times that call for your Sunday best. Accessorize with even more white or mix up your palette with vibrant colors. Everything goes with white, right? Touche!

How to Rock Transitional Dressing

March 15, 2017

Welcome to March: It doesn’t feel like full-blown winter anymore, but it’s still not quite spring, either. To get through this wishy-washy time when the temps could be 40 or 60 degrees, you need to lean on a few key staples. These transitional pieces will help you bridge the gap between seasons–and get your spring stuff in rotation a little earlier, too!

On your torso: Mid-weight sweaters

When you need something in between the chunky knits of December and the fluttery blouses of May, mid-weight knits are a girl’s best friend. If you’re not ready for a full-on jacket, layer up with a vest (try this fur-collared style by Pink Rose, $17) for added warmth and style points.

On your arms: Anorak

You might think it’s too early to pull out some of your favorite spring dresses, but with this outdoorsy classic (plus tights and booties, see below), you can absolutely make it work. We love this anorak in olive or black by Ashley ($20). Suddenly, cold shoulder dresses like this black-and-white printed one from Luxology ($21.99) don’t seem so chilly!

On your legs: Fuzzy tights

Don’t close the drawer on tights just yet: Cable knits and cozy heathered tights still have plenty of life left matched under a denim skirt or sweater dress. And here’s a wild idea: Layer a wild-printed pair of capri leggings like these from Eye Candy ($7.99) under a solid-colored skirt or dress, top with knee- or calf-high boots and you’ve got a super-cool transitional look.

On your feet: Booties

When your sturdy, fur-topped snow boots seem like overkill but it’s not breezy enough for sandals, the bootie is your best friend. Feel free to rock the classic short boots you wore all of last fall, or look for updated styles with breezy insets or open weaves, like the Chelly Bootie by Fergalicious ($54.95).

On your head: Knit beanie

By now, you’ve had enough of your wintry hat with cozy ear flaps. It’s time to make the move to a slouchy lightweight beanie, which can add a bit of grunge-inspired attitude to any outfit.

9 Sweet Valentine’s Day Treats

February 14, 2017

9 Sweet Valentine’s Day Treats

A bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolates might be the most traditional, but when it comes to Valentine’s Day gift-giving, there is so much more out there to show your affection for the ones you love. Whether you’re looking for a special surprise for your spouse, child or friend (and don’t forget to treat yourself, too!), these options are as sweet as can be.

The hand-made details—a dark denim rosette, metallic heart cut-out and hand lettering—of this wood-grained Love Frame ($11.99) make it an extra-special perch for a favorite photo.

How cute is this Together Makes Life Beautiful pillow ($9.99)? One side features a heartfelt message, while the other is covered edge to edge with x’s and o’s.

With its heathered gray tones, comfy knit fabric and sweet screenprint, this Inspired Hearts Hacci Raglan Hoodie ($19.99) should be required attire for a cozy movie Valentine’s Day date at home.

Whether or not it’s sandals season where you live, you can’t help but go googly-eyed after one look at these Emoji Heart Eyes Flip Flops ($3.99).

Any modern romantics in the house? If you prefer crisp and clean-cut designs to pink, red and frills, pick up this Derek Heart High Neck Screen Tank ($4.99) with a simple black-and-white motif that nods to Valentine’s Day without seeming overly sappy.

With it’s powder pink hue and sugar-sweet message, this Heart String Art ($9.99) is just the right fit for the littlest valentine in your life. Bonus points for adding these utterly adorable Rainbow Heart Sunglasses ($3.99)

Wear your heart on your sleeve with this Crystal Bangle with Heart ($7.99). Between the rose gold-tone metal and the twinkly crystal heart and band, it’s right-on for Valentine’s Day.

Lapel pins are making a comeback, big-time! Your BFF would really dig the Orion 3 Piece Bff Heart and Donut Pins ($3), which would look super-cute pinned on a jean jacket or backpack.

Your fragrance: Paris Hilton Heiress, a girl-power scent with notes of juicy passion fruit and orange as well as subtle star jasmine and violet.

FEMININE

Your frock: A low cut neckline, scoop back, and dual color detail make this black lace number so delicate and feminine. Nude heels and jewel-encrusted stud earrings are the perfect accessories.

Your fragrance: JLO Live, which matches fresh and fruity notes (think Sicilian lemon, red currant and orange) with rich caramel and nutty tonka bean.

ROMANTIC

Your frock: This darling dress takes a traditional springtime floral print and adds that Valentines flare in red and black. The sweetheart neckline frames your face, so all you need to top off the outfit are simple hoop earrings and peep-toe booties.

Your fragrance: Calvin Klein Eternity Moment, a floral-forward blend of Chinese pink peony, passion flower, musk and rosewood.
